Dr Babu Zachariah has thirty-two years of teaching and research experience. He has been teaching courses such as statistical methods, operations research, computer applications and computer programming. His research areas are goal programming, software reliability modelling and related applications. The completed work includes a software reliability model based on group rectification policy, a multi-criteria approach for achieving optimal quality in modular software systems, a goal programming model with rotating priorities for income estimation and a new approach to modelling in software reliability; known as failure size proportional models. Failure size proportional model was used in analyzing failure detection abilities of software testing strategies and in the analysis of software testing strategies through attained failure size. He has 12 research papers of which 5 are published in foreign journals/proceedings. These include 2 IEEE journal papers. He has also written articles on topics like ‘practical guidelines for excelling in research’ and ‘need of operations research in social work administration’. He has reviewed papers for two foreign journals and was also a member of the editorial board of two Indian journals. He has worked as a resource person in statistical data analysis in more than 30 workshops/refresher courses/FDPs across Maharashtra, Goa and Northern Karnataka. All the sessions were conducted in SPSS/Excel by providing hands-on training to the participants. He has also organised three national workshops.
